HERNANDO COUNTY, Fla. — The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) is on the scene regarding a shooting and a barricaded person in the area of Flounder Drive and Flamingo Boulevard in Hernando Beach.
According to an HCSO spokesperson, a woman has barricaded herself inside her home after allegedly shooting her male "domestic partner." Two small children were in the residence and were taken to a safe location, police say.
The shooting victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities are asking residents to remain indoors and avoid the area.
Flounder Drive and Flamingo Boulevard are closed until further notice.
